Student IDs - Effective August 2011
All students are required to have a school-issued picture ID badge in their possession. These badges are required to leave class, check out library materials, and as proof of student enrollment. At the request of a faculty or staff member, the ID badge MUST be presented. Replacement ID badges can be purchased for $3.00 in the Media Center.

Closed campus Policy - Effective August 2011
Zephyrhills High School is a closed campus. Students may not leave campus at any time without being signed out by a parent. Students may not leave campus for lunch. Students found to leave campus without permission will lose their right to drive to school and receive additional disciplinary consequences.

Media Center Passes- Effective September 1, 2011
During any class period, a student needs a Media Pass signed by a teacher.  This is an official Media Pass, not a note written out by someone.  More than one student can be on a pass, especially if they are coming as a group to work on a project.

During lunches the only thing a student needs in order to come to the Media Center is his or her ID.  These are color-coded so that we know to which lunch they are assigned.  Before and after school, all students are welcome, and we require no pass or ID.

New Student Enrollment Policy- Effective September 1, 2011
Due to the new Guidance Staffing pattern we have come up with a new enrollment procedure for new students. When a parent and student requests enrollment we ask that the Registrar call down to the Guidance Department and determine if the appropriate Guidance Counselor is available. The Gudiance Secretary will ask the counselor and if it can be done immediately it will be. If the counselor is committed elsewhere, very backed up or out-of-the-office, the parent will be asked to make an appointment to come back. The Guidance Secretary will facilitate this with feedback from the counselor.

Student Consequences for Unexcused Absences - August, 2011
If a student has unexcused absences in 3 or more periods a day in five or more days, or 5 unexcused absences in any one course within a quarter or ten (10) unexcused absences in any one course within a semester, the student may:

1. Lose the privilege of participating in extracurricular activities. These include but are not limited to dances, special events, club activities and participation in athletics, until the end of the following grading quarter.

2. In addition, the privilege to drive to campus may be revoked until the end of the following grading quarter. If this occurs during the fourth quarter of the school year, the privileges could be lost for the first quarter of the following school year. The principal or designee may review extenuating circumstances resulting in a loss of privilege(s). The Principal's decision is final.

3. Have their name submitted to the Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). The student will then be in danger of having the current privilege to drive suspended, or for students who are under age 16,having their application for licensure denied.
(Please see Driver's License Law section, which follows) Florida Statute 1003.26

New Policy for Excused Absences - Effective February 7, 2011
All paper admits for excused admits will no longer be generated. Students will still need to submit a note or proof of their absence. We will continue the practice of electronically submitting excused absences on eSembler. Students need to be directed to see Helen Meador on this issue. Mrs. Meador will input all excused absences into eSembler. Teachers will refer to eSembler to verify excused absences of their students.

New Checkout Policy - Effective September 7, 2010
"End of Day" Activity Schedule Student Check-Out Procedures

Students may checkout early when ZHS is on an "End of Day" activity schedule. Student may exempt themselves from the activity and check out at 1:06 pm if they bring a note from their parent/guardian. The note must be submitted to the front office no later than 8 am on the day of the event with the reason for a request for early dismissal included on the note. Requests will be reviewed by the ZHS administration and if there are any concerns about the early check-out, parents will be notified.

Campus Visitor Policy - November 2009
Previous ZHS students may only visit classrooms when they have prearranged permission to be there. Teachers must notify the Front Office if they have given a former student permission to be on campus to visit their classroom. Otherwise, unless it is Guidance related, all former students will be told to come back after 2:05 to visit former teachers and staff.
